Man today is hard. I have started the last stretch before my surgery. I am only allowed clear liquids. So my diet from today to my surgery on Wednesday is clear juice, jello, water, propel, popsicles and ice. That is all that I can chose from. Luckily the liquid diet has shrunk my stomach a bit but I can feel the emptiness inside. I am also a bit light headed but I know I can do this. Mind over Matter right?! I just keep reminding myself that this is all for a better cause. This is going to help me accomplish what I can not by myself. This is the final stretch before my surgery. It is all worth it to be healthy again. But, there are times I have to pray for the strength. God has brought me this far and only with his help will I make it to Wednesday.
I have also noticed today just how much food is apart of everyday life. Not just eating our daily meals with our families. But, even just watching tv food is everywhere. It really makes you think because, food really is only there to fuel our bodies but we use it in social events and even when emotional. And, have you noticed that all chocolate commercials are primarily directed towards women?! It is no wonder childhood obesity is so high. In just the last hour I have seen 3 pizza commercials, 2 candy/chocolate commercials and 2 Subway commercials. Now, don't get me wrong I love food. I love eating it, baking it, grilling it, inventing new recipes and sharing it. But, I really truly think that we should be trying to make food healthier for ourselves. And, why make the big companies rich by buying their crummy food that clogs our artieries? Why don't we bake more and cook more for ourselves. I understand that we are all busy but does it take that much longer to prep a few extra chicken breasts while cooking dinner, or cut up extra fruit for our yogurts for breakfast or make extra pancakes and freeze them then it does to sit in the line at the drive through?
It really has me thinking and maybe I have you thinking now too. Sorry if I rambled a bit. I am tired. But, I really wanted to share what I have noticed today.
You can do it, sista!!!!! <3
ReplyDeleteAnd, I totally agree. I have really been trying to get that across to a few people and they just don't get it! Fast food may be convenient time wise but definitely not convenient health wise. Carrot sticks, celery sticks, apples, oranges, or pickles (my FAV!! Haha) thrown in a baggy and taken with on the road is so much healthier AND, like you said, faster. And, you know just who is touching your food.
You rock and you can do this!! :)
