I finally feel good enough to type out a little blurb about the surgery and how I am feeling. Luckily I am not in a lot of pain today, so I am not on those awful pain meds that make me loopy as all get out!!
So where to start?! I had my surgery on the 6th. I had to arrive at 6:30am for all the admission crap and what not, two nurses tried 6 times to get my IV started until finally my anesthesiologist was able to get it started with the 7th stick. I went in to surgery around 8:30ish I believe and got into recovery at 10 to 10am at least I think that is what the recovery nurse told me. Finally around 11ish am I got to my room and got to see my family. My surgery went great with no complications. I did have an asthma attack as they were putting me under but was fine after that. I only ended up with one incision which I was thrilled to find out because they usually make 3-5 incisions. My surgeon is amazing!! He was one of the first surgeons in CO to perform the Lap Band Procedure. I got home around 12:30pm. Then I slept all day long. I was in pain but was so glad to be home.
On the 7th I was in quite a bit of pain. My abs felt like they were on fire. It felt like I had done 1,000 crunches in a row and I could barely stand up straight. I slept most that day away as well. I got to set up a couple times and visit but my pain meds really knocked me out. So that day was mainly a recovery day.
Now....Yesterday I actually felt human. I got to sit up and visit with my family. I took a nap while they ran errands but was able to take a shower. Which let me tell you really made me feel human and normal!! I was able to walk around a bit and even eat a few bites of jell-o. I had not felt hungry until yesterday. I even got to sleep with my hubby last night :)
And, this morning I woke up sore but am feeling 100 times better. I think in the next day or two I may actually be back to normal. I could not imagine having more then one incision. I think I would be in even more pain. I have been able to burp now and let me tell you it does feel a little odd! LOL!! And, the hiccups let me tell you that is the oddest think in the world to do now. :) I am just happy to be healing. I have my post-op appointment on the 18th and hopefully then I will finally get to add in some normal food. I have to stay on this liquid diet and not lift over 5lbs until then. I haven't weighed since surgery but I will let you know when I do weigh. Well I think that is it. I have you all caught up on the healing process. I will let you know as it goes. Sorry it took so long to get this thing caught up..
Also on a side note: Today is my best friends wedding. She is marrying a great man. He makes her so happy and I am so happy for them. I hope that today is everything that they dreamed it would be. I love you both!! <3
