Waffles!!

The last few mornings I have been having TIGHT mornings. With a lap band this happens occasionally due to swelling or a restriction from the previous day. When I have these mornings I usually just drink a bit or tea and have a yogurt. My favorite pairing lately has been Shaken Black Tea with Raspberry no Classic from Starbucks and a small raspberry yogurt. Or a Warm Steeped Blackberry Tea with a small yogurt.

BUT, today I made waffles for my little family this morning. And, I was able to eat a quarter of the serving I served myself. I added a little butter and syrup. I use both heart healthy butter and light maple syrup. Now remember with "bready" foods you eat less because they expand in your stomach. So has it sits in your "small" stomach waiting to feed through to your "large" stomach it expands. So ALWAYS eat half of what you want when it comes to "bready" foods. And, do not give into eating them on a regular basis. It will sabatoge your diet on a daily basis because of the low protein content and high carb content. Though to make it a little healthier and go down easier you can add raspberry yogurt for your topping rather then butter and syrup. This is what I did for the 2nd bite of waffle I had. So that I got to enjoy a little healthy and a little sweet. It was delicious. This way is also my baby girls favorite way of eating them.

The left side is what I served myself. Just cut in half and one with syrup and one with yogurt. The right side is what I really ate. Cut in half one bite with syrup and one with yogurt.

Just remember that yes this is a life style change. But, all things in moderation. You deserve a pat on the back treat every ONCE in a WHILE. Be true to yourself. If you feel you over ate be good and clean up your act the rest of the day. If you feel you ate wrong just clean your diet and do better through out the day. Never put yourself down. Just know you can fix it with you next meal. Keep your head up!!
